Enough about me, though; let’s talk about our best hair oil picks and which ones you should try at home:
What Is The Best Hair Oil for Hair: Some of Our Favorite Picks
1. Oil-infused products we love
Let’s start off with oil-infused products, shall we? Some of our favorites here at All Things Hair include Nexxus Oil Infinite Nourishing Hair Oil and Suave Professionals Coconut Oil Infusion Damage Repair Oil Treatment. The Nexxus oil is one of the best oils for frizzy hair and for combatting your dry hair issues. This oil is a leave-in hair oil (i.e. no rinsing) that nourishes hair, leaves it soft and maintains hair’s natural movement. The coconut infusion oil by Suave is perfect for repairing damage. This hair oil works to visibly repair two years of damage, leaving your hair smooth and shiny.
2. The best hair oils for any hair type
Coconut oil, as of late, has been described as the oil we should stay away from when it comes to consumption. However, in our experience, coconut oil has never done us any wrong as a hair oil. This oil has the ability to penetrate the hair and has great conditioning benefits. Another one of our current favorites is castor oil. This is one of the best oils for natural hair types, in particular, but it also works well for anyone. Known for its thick consistency, it helps by giving your hair a thicker and fuller look, as well as coat the hair and locking in moisture. Many women call this the best oil for hair loss, as they have used castor oil to help regrow their hair (we’ll test it out and come back with our findings!). Editor’s note: Its thick texture makes it a little hard to wash out, so be sure to wash it out with shampoo for an effective rinse.
3. How to use hair oil
The way you’d use a hair oil on your hair all depends on what you’re trying to achieve. Are you using it to add shine to your hair? If so, apply some of the oil to your finished style. Do you need a hair oil as a treatment? Make an at-home oil treatment with a natural hair oil that penetrates the hair shaft for extra conditioning (example: coconut oil). You can also use some oil to seal in moisture—whether it’s after dampening your hair with water, or after applying a leave-in conditioner—to your hair. Not all hair types can handle these methods, so pick the one that works best for you and your hair type.
