The kids are out of school, the weather is perfect, and the smell of BBQ is in the air. Ahh – SUMMER!! I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than a Group Date Splash Party. All of the backyard water games you can think of accompanied by DARLING free printables designed by one of our incredible designers: Jen at Jen T By Design! {Go ahead and click on her name and take a look. This girl knows her stuff!} This group date is a complete BLAST!
These water bottle tags might be my new favorite thing! I LOVE these! All I did was cut out the cute printables, fold it together, and then I glued the cute embellishment tag on the front. Add a little mini sunblock and you have a perfect party gift for all of your guests. And let me tell you, I needed this. I’m a redhead and I sunburn like peach!
There are cute printable signs for the “Snack Bar” and the “Water Station”. Perfect for an 8X10 frame or tacked up outside on the wall like I did.
We busted out the grill {Yummy!} for hot dogs and burgers before all of the water started. I’m so glad we did! The food was so good! First grill of the season. We had to eat fast. There were so many water guns sitting around, it’s hard to resist. When the splash party started I had to put my camera way. Everyone grabbed a gun and it was impossible to keep anything dry. Once everyone was significantly wet we started our splash party competition!
WATER GAME IDEAS There are so many fun backyard water games out there! When I saw this slip-n-slide at the store I couldn’t resist. It was so much fun! We used it in a few of our games. {My husband is such a good sport!} Here are some ideas to help you get started with your water party.
Slip-n-slide Baseball: This is played like normal kickball/baseball, but the bases are kiddie pools and you have to slide to each base on a slip-in-slide. LOL! My husband rocked this game!
Water Balloon Volleyball: Each couple holds a towel or a small blanket at each end. Use the towel to launch water balloons over the volleyball net to the other team. If the team drops the water balloon they lose, but hopefully they catch it and launch it back. Duck Duck Splash: Everyone sits in a circle. One person walks around the outside and taps each player on the head and calls them “duck”. Just like the classic game, but the “goose” gets tapped with a water balloon and gets splashed! Water Balloon Piñata: Hang full water balloons from a string. Blindfold a player and have them use a plastic bat to hit and break the piñata. Sponge Ball Tag: Create water sponge balls by cutting a few sponges in half and tie the center together with string or elastic. Dunk in a bucket of water and let the games begin. Water Ballon Hot Potato: Everyone sits in a circle on the lawn. Start some music and pass the ballon around quickly. When the song stops, the person holding the balloon must pop it over their head and leave the circle. Last person wins!
I’m glad we decided to eat before all of the splashing started. There wasn’t a dry corner to be found anywhere! We were all soaked through!
We all had such a good time on this group date! I can’t wait to do it all again with my kids! This date idea is perfect for couples, family fun, or a family reunion. What are you waiting for?!?
